06 Jan Render to Reality | Vergennes Street Kitchen, Pantry & Mudroom Remodel
Take the cutest family, with lots of littles, very patient parents who know what they like but just not how it can all go together and you have The Vergennes Street kitchen, pantry & mudroom conundrum! The clients are busy owning business, running a young family and living in a house that has a great amount of space, but just not as functional as they would like it to be. Sitting back from the main street, it is a perfect spot to raise kiddos in the rural Lowell area.
The family loves vintage but with modern touches. The kitchen was lacking all the space and flow, the pantry… well there was no pantry. The full bathroom was large and not useful to how they live and waste of space. The island was tiny for these big cooks and the appliances were falling apart. The laundry room had a old chimney that needed to go to gain space back since it was unused and the angle walls made the flow, un-flowy!

The wish list included:
- more open space in mudroom to give good flow from garage into kitchen and out backdoor to pool along with more cabinet storage and washer and dryer with folding counter.
- LOTS of hanging space for coats and a bench for shoes and sitting on
- a half bath with toilet and small sink, nothing big and add a little storage
- a kitchen with a walk-in pantry, an island big enough to have lots of seats, a 6 burner stove, beverage fridge and a mix of old and new finishes
- dining area update to allow for more isle space if possible
- keep the kids play area by the front entry windows
FLOOR PLANS

When we tighten up the bathroom, this provided the perfect amount of space for a pantry! When we removed the old chimney and reversed the laundry room layout, that funky angled wall gave purpose to a coat hook wall. When we opened up the dining room and did a built-in bench for the table, we created enough room for the island to gain in length, which triggered an additional countertop by the front door making the overall kitchen very functional with storage, use and style. The charm of the finishes in each space is what makes this eclectic space just shout farmhouse!

The vision was there, the builder was selected and now it was time to bring this project to life! Checking off the boxes, providing clarity to their wants and needs while getting everyone on the same page was what set this project up for success!
